Picking some peanuts

Today I did not have the time to do my daily video before the evening.

I unearthed some peanuts from my plantations on the rooftop of our house. You can see some of the peanuts I unearthed in the picture below. There are many more still under the ground.

I also posted a poem on my Linkedin profile for the first time: https://www.linkedin.com/in/erik-zakhia/

Those are the peanuts. Each peanut gives a plant that can give from 20 to 60 peanuts, even more. It was my idea to start planting peanuts, not something I had seen done around me.

And those are the kind of fruits I am harvesting lately. Bananas and papayas from the banana and papaya trees I planted four years ago.
I also of course pick a large salad on a daily basis, and many other things.

Some rain is coming in the next days, starting from Friday, which is a good news.

And, as on every day, let's also renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

In front of my new raised bed

Today I showed the progression of my new raised bed... It was another day without clouds, but soon the weather is going to change and some rain is announced in a few days.

And let's renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

In front of the sea

Today I spoke in front of the sea, as the sun lowered over the horizon. We changed hour, meaning that days are getting even shorter, and the sun is setting earlier (still one hour of difference with the low lands).

I also made the effort to swim, despite the cold. I picked fresh salads, basil, bananas and a papaya, some okras too.

It seems it could rain in one week or so, which would be a really good thing, as the soil is dry.

As on every day, let's renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

In the garden by the sea

Today I spoke from the garden by the sea...

We are still waiting for the rain.

And let's renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

Late afternoon

I forgot to do my daily video earlier, and as days are getting shorter...

I have a new idea I'm working on, but I will speak of it only if it works...

Let's hope it will rain soon to end the drought.

And let's renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

Less windy

Today the day was less windy fortunately, but still relatively cold, and dry.

 Let's hope for rain soon.

And let's renew our daily prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

The cold dry wind continues

The cold dry wind continued today...

Updated rainfall / October 23rd

We are very unfortunately in a situation of drought, on top of all our problems. The temperatures are colder, but the north wind is very dry, and there have been wildfires and forest fires in the country in the last two days.

The month of September was rainy above average, but the rainfall in October is underneath the average, and as we are still moving from the dry summer, it's not enough to keep the soil moist.

Let's hope for rain soon, and let's again renew our prayer for Peace, here and in the world.

July 2024: Total = 0 mm

August 2024: Total = 0 mm

September 2024: Total = 70 mm
- Saturday 14th: 1 mm (light rain)
- Sunday 15th: 3 mm (light rain showers)
- Monday 16th: 0.5 mm (drizzle)
- Tuesday 17th: 0.5 mm (drizzle)
- Sunday 22nd: 40 mm (heavy showers)
- Monday 23rd: 25 mm (heavy showers)

October 2024: Total = 5 mm*
- Wednesday 3rd: 5 mm (rain showers)
- Friday 18th: 0.1 mm (drizzle)

Another cold, dry and windy day

Another cold, dry and windy day...

Let's renew our prayer for Peace here, and worldwide...

A colder, windy day

 A colder, windy day...

Let's renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

Today I showed the little passion fruits in the garden by the sea... It's getting a bit colder.

Let's also renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

From the garden by the sea

Today I picked bananas and papayas, a salad and olives, from the garden by the sea...

Let's also renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

Working in the garden

The garden, thanks to my hard work, continues to offer bountiful salads every day, with a few fruit and a few vegetable. For now that is my only consolation...

Let's renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.
And let's hope that the Faerie Princess will soon do what is right, and accept to show her face again, and to speak all her emotions.

Speaking from the garden

 Speaking from the garden...

Let's also renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

Without Peace and dialogue, nothing sustainable can be built. This is also valid for the family and entourage of the Faerie Princess, Annelies Broeders.

The third raised bed of a new kind

Today I showed in my video the third raised bed of a new kind I am building. I also as every day pray for Peace, here and worldwide.

Tomorrow morning I will post this text on my linkedin profile. You can read it beforehand here:

The bees of Ermacchia.

Despite the difficult and tragic situation, I am proud to announce the launching of a new webpage where I will try to monitor on a daily basis the progression of our wild beehive.
During the last four years, I've tried to plant a wide array of flowering trees, plants and shrubs that bees appreciate, hoping to attract honeybees without having to buy a beehive.
It was more like a fantasy dream, than a concrete plan. And yet one month ago, to my great surprise, I discovered we had a beehive in the garden, in one of our oldest ficus elastica tree, at around 3.5 - 4 meters height.
I am not yet an experienced beekeeper, and yet I am under the impression that our beehive is quite dynamic. Yesterday on a partly cloudy day of fall, I recorded 50 bees going out the beehive in a minute.
I will therefore try to do similar measurements on a daily basis, out of scientific interest, and for fun. Most of modern beekeepers keep their bees in wooden houses / boxes. Rare are those who have honey bees at the wild state, also because of the deterioration of ecosystems.
In the gardens I take care of, in addition of following the principles of agroforestry and permaculture, associating hundreds of species of trees, shrubs, plants, both wild and cultivated, I also never make use of any chemical / biological product. That can explain why honeybees found the right ecosystem where to develop the sufficient strength to settle on their own, in the trunk of a giant tree that is at least 60 years old.
You can visit the website I've started building for Arbaro de Espero on this link: https://arbarodeespero.wordpress.com/
And this is the page specific to the bees of Ermacchia: https://arbarodeespero.wordpress.com/the-bees-of-ermacchia/
Naturally, keeping bees, just as planting a field, a garden or a balcony, fall within the realm of peacebuilding by learning to speak the language of plants, the idea Arbaro de Espero promotes. Often farmers know little about bees, and beekeepers know little about gardens, and ordinary citizens know little about both. My aim is to make people more aware and sensitive about the great advantages of associating cultures, whether for personal use or at larger scale.
It is beautiful to observe bees, especially when they go out from a giant tree trunk they chose for their abode. Every day I go in that area of the garden to observe them, and I am each time fascinated and marveled by their grace. They seem to be dancing a ballet along a music only they hear.
And the observer is left to try to guess the notes composing that music, that is in perfect harmony with the wind and the foliage around.
Follow Arbaro de Espero to stay updated.

The reason of who I am

I think that all what is happening will allow Red-Oak, Green-Rose and Little-Flute to better understand the reason of who I am...

Let's renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

Passion fruit flowers

Today I spoke from the garden by the sea, where surprisingly the passion fruit vine has produced some flowers. The season of passion fruits is usually during the summer, but rarely, it can also produce a winter harvest. Let's hope that it will be the case. And I also made the effort to swim in the sea.

Let's renew our prayer for Peace, here and worldwide.

Showing little passion fruit plants

And once again, let's pray for Peace, here, and worldwide.

Showing the garden's progress

Today I briefly showed the garden's progress, after so much hard work.

By the way, the Faerie Princess shared an article on her blog that I found really very interesting. I invite you all to read it.

And as on every day, I renew my prayers for Peace, here, and worldwide.

Wild edible plants

I often do not say anything interesting in my videos as I am not always inspired to speak...

But I am reading an interesting book called "The complete guide to Edible Wild Plants, Mushrooms, Fruits and Nuts - Finding, Identifying, Cooking" by Katie Letcher Lyle. I already know many of these plants, and cultivate them and use them, but it's a nice read...

I again renew my prayers for a permanent Peace to be found.

The importance of dialogue

It was a cloudy day, another one.

It is Dialogue that can bring Peace between nations and between human beings. I call on the family of the Faerie Princess to accept to dialogue.

From the garden by the sea

From the garden by the sea, I renew my prayer for Peace.

I saw a sea turtle

Today I made the effort to swim in the sea. And I saw a sea turtle for the first time in my life! That was a really beautiful experience. It was like a small rainbow of hope in all the grayness we are going through.

I call for dialogue. Dialogue in between nations. And Dialogue with the family of the Faerie Princess, Annelies Broeders.

It is refusal of dialogue that leads to violence in the world.

In the best interest of the Faerie Princess, those who love her have the duty to speak, to talk, to communicate, in peaceful, respectful manners, in between themselves, with the Faerie Princess, and with me.

Putting a wall, hiding behind silence, is as bad as those countries which refuse to speak, and only understand the language of force.

Six years ago, when I was victim of an unfairness, I tried to dialogue, I tried to explain everything, but I was not allowed to speak, and I was not heard. The Law was used as a way not to dialogue. And that is a great mistake. We are human beings at the end. Refusing a peaceful, constructive conversation is a great mistake. That is how disagreements start and deepen.

I am a person of Peace and of Dialogue, which means that I am always open to Dialogue. And I call upon the entourage of Annelies Broeders to accept to dialogue too, because there is no other choice at the end. If we do not dialogue, the situation will not improve.

And if you doubt, dear Red-Oak, dear Green-Rose, dear Little-Flute, of the wishes of the Faerie Princess, kindly be notified that I am using the name of the Faerie Princess in public, without receiving any form of protest, and I've been doing so for months and months. This in itself should be a sufficient proof for you that what I am saying is true, and that the Faerie Princess shares my worldview, my dreams and my ambitions, but fails to express herself directly to you over the phone, or in real life, because she has this trauma, this phobia, this fear, that is stuck in her throat, and reminds her of the panic she felt during her childhood.

So please, think of building a bridge of words to overcome this valley of silence. What do you lose by communicating? What are you so afraid about?

Are you so proud that you place your pride before the best interest and the wellfare and the happiness of the Faerie Princess?

Are you so afraid for your career, dear Red-Oak, that you no longer see where justice and fairness are?

I think you should go back to the source of why you chose to follow this noble pursuit. Not to reach a higher position and to make more money, but rather to sow more justice and fairness in your country, and in general, on Earth. Please go back to your essence, Red-Oak. Go back to why you chose this path. Hiding behind an irrational fear is no longer an option, as it is making you and everyone around miserable.

If you wish to retrieve some harmony and happiness in your life, you will have to accept to hold a peaceful, constructive, respectful dialogue.

It is ironic that I, who come from a country where no one wishes to be right now, must teach you the importance of dialogue, dear Red-Oak. Back then, you had not hesitated to use my identity against me. Learn you were mistaken. We are all citizens of the World, citizens of Earth, and we are all equal in front of the Universal Law, whether you choose to believe in God or not.

Coming from a less fortunate country does not make me inferior. Having a slightly different culture does not make me a bad person.

Please keep that in mind.

And let's all pray for Peace, here and worldwide.

Sad and discouraged

I am so sad, tired, and discouraged.

Is there no end to this tunnel?

Is there no space for happiness?

I just ask for Peace. I just ask to be able to communicate my ideas with the world. I just ask for dialogue with the family of the Faerie Princess, because she has a great potential to positively impact the world with her ideas.

Why is everything so difficult, complicated and painful?

Can't human beings just open their eyes, and do what is right for once?

I pray for that.

Completing the second raised bed

Today I've finished building the second raised bed of a new kind, as you can see in the video... I've planted it with a lot of seeds, hoping they will sprout!

Let's again pray for Peace, here, and worldwide.

And for those who judged me on my origins six years ago, I just ask you to watch what is happening, the disproportionate use of violence on a small country that cannot even defend itself. I was back then a victim, as much as my country now is, victim of the prejudices of persons who don't even know where to place this small country on a map.
My wish to help the Faerie Princess (on her demand!) was mistakenly perceived in a really negative way, and I was so harshly and unfairly judged.

Dear Red-Oak, I kindly ask you to reconsider your judgement...

In the meanwhile, let us just pray for Peace.
